I'm now getting into (small) motor homing in a Berlingo, preferably of the wild/free variety. I bought the present motor from Chapel Motorhomes and am now tweaking it with a few additional bits and pieces such as a leisure battery and interior lamps. I found a nice little lamp with dual lights, white and red, operated by a two way rocker switch. The red is good for not blinding myself when waking up in the night. I did some long days trips in a normal Berlingo and a C-Max, i.e. out in the evening, stop somewhere overnight, on to wherever, stop somewhere else for a second night and home on the second morning. The bug bit. Having a liking for the original Berlingo I came across one that had been wheelchair adapted (now up for sale) and I found that I could put a camp bed down the middle. I used this for a couple of trips including one to the Waterloo battlefield. There's a nice quiet spot very near Hougoumont Farm (I'll post the details elsewhere). Then I discovered there's a name for such stopovers and here I am.

Hi Roger - welcome along - hope you have a great time here! Yes, low level red and blue led lights are also good for stealth camping on streets. Nice to be able see without telling the whole neighbourhood you are there! Did they really sell a conversion without a second battery?! Well done for putting one in You will also find a solar panel very useful if you do a lot of wild camping off the grid.

As originally equipped, it's very basic. OK for a night or two fishing or some such. Like everything, you get what you pay for and these are cheap. As built, the interior set up didn't suit me, but he built a completely new interior to my basic design and included some fittings I asked for. I've got a small solar panel, but haven't installed it in this motor yet. I'm still tweaking.

It looks a very neat layout. Do the front seats swivel as well?

It looks a very neat layout. Do the front seats swivel as well? Sadly not. The seats are too long for the available width - if that makes sense. I'm just having a blackout curtain made up to hang behind the front seats.
