LOL, nice one BB Jess, the wiring instructions from RING for your relay are permanently available on the web here: www.ringautomotive.co.uk/images/pdfs/RCT460%20fitting%20instructions.pdfI attach your original ones which will form part of your xmas present ;D They aren't mega helpful as they have printed them as though you are wiring up a towing socket on a caravan so I have crossed out the towing socket pins and put in the correct terminations in red.

the wires come out of my smartcom relay too. bad design. so glue them in with epoxy like araldite after tightning to get electric connection

Thanks for the instructions Firefox. Am off outside to sort it all out now. I'll take photos and post them up. Got some superglue although after last night's incident, I'm not sure that I'm safe with superglue.

OK Cool Fridge -ve can go to OV Earth input or any other earth (I didn't put that on sorry) Araldite/epoxy was a good suggestion as it fills gaps well but you'll be fine with superglue, just take your bottle of acetone with you ;D

I've got the wiring diagram wrong so here is a corrected version. The positive connection from the leisure battery to the Aux Batt O/P is the one with the bit of yellow showing in the photo below (the connector he added to the wire to try to fix it it place, it does seem to have held ok). Above that is the live feed from the fridge, which is correct. The 12v perm live feed is unused - this was wrong on my first diagram. The fused positive feed from the main battery has worked loose again from the 12v Fused I/P on the Smartcom. Both the negative feed from the main battery and the negative from the fridge go into the OV Earth I/P socket but this connection is also loose despite having redone it yesterday. The green fuse is 30 Amp. So from what I can see all I need to do is to fix the Positive from the main battery securely into the 12V Fused I/P, and then superglue all the connections, and that should be it all sorted.I hope. But I've had enough messing around outside in this horrible endless rain which we've now had pretty much non-stop for at least a week now and it's time to light my stove and warm up chilly fingers and toes. So I'll finish sorting it out tomorrow.

FFS, can someone please tell me how to upload pics from photobucket, it doesn't seem to want to play. I did it the other day.
It's really annoying that you can only upload one photo at a time by attachment and it is placed at the end of the post.
The problem is that I haven't got any of the right sized connectors otherwise I'd use them and it would be so simple. It's going to be a week or so before I can get any, because of where I live and cos I'm not going anywhere near shops tomorrow or Monday. Got no araldite or chocolate blocks whatever they are. Nearest Maplins is 100 miles round trip. Halfords is next to Morrisons and car park will be a nightmare tomorrow. I got to sort it with what I have got. I got superglue.
Have already tried taping it, won't hold. Will glue it in once I know its correct, but not until I've posted the pics and made sure it's right.

Jess have you not got your fridge Fused? ? don't panic if you haven't, but it could do with it. Have you got a soldering iron, You could take the screw out from 12v i/p and solder the wire in then it wont come out, if it keeps coming out it sounds like the thread has gone on the screw. good luck.

Fridge isn't fused as it is wired through the Smartcom which is fused. Don't really use it this time of year anyway.
I know stereo needs a fuse as it's wired direct to the battery but wasn't sure what size, but you said 10A I think.
Nothing wrong with the threads or the screws, it's just that they are so tiny and I'm using double thick wires so the ends of the wire are too thick for the sockets (sockets are too small) so screwing it down just pushes wire back out, so have to thin out the copper ends of the wires twisted together but then it still works loose. Its not a prob where I'm just using single wire.
The crimp lugs I've got are too big to fit into the smartcom sockets. Firefox had to squeeze one thin and trim down to get it in, it had to be jammed in but at least that one hasn't come out. It's the one with the yellow bit on in the attached pic. Have given up with photobucket, will just attach single pics to posts.
Time for a brew and some chocolate, I can feel myself getting stressed... why is nothing ever straight forward???

theres no need for wires that thick,,,your only charging a battery and running a fridge, one 4mm wire should be enough fro the vehicle battery to smartcom.

Opinions differ on that. It's much more efficient charging with thicker wire - less voltage drop, and less heating, Also the smartcom recommended fuse is under spec. They say 15A which keeps on blowing, so you need 20A/25A or even 30 A fuse. I've got 75A cable on mine and 45A trip. Which you need if you have 2 big flat 110A batteries, the alternator will kick out far more than 15A. So we wired Jess's with double 4mm2 wire to allow for expansion potential for more batteries, (as she may want to go off-grid for weeks), a bigger fuse, and to be more efficient. Only problem is the Smartcom terminals are really crap. It's quite possible to fit in two wires if you crimp on a terminal and shape it to fit in the Smartcom socket - which I did with one (That's just by way of history/explanation)

OK, thanks everyone, no more opinions needed as they are all conflicting. I am really grateful for all the advice as I know you are all trying to help me sort this out but I'm more confused and frustrated than ever now.
I know where my nearest motor spares shop (halfords) is and it's too far and I am not going anywhere near shops until well after Christmas.
I'll just carry on with what I was intending to do and if it all goes bang then it's my fault and no-one elses as I need this sorting tomorrow as I'm away over Christmas.
