An update for everyone. It has just been a convoy of two at the moment with me and wvw, although we have met up with the others at the weekends for the festivals. So have seen Penny, Ron, MaryMC, Alec, Margaret, Onion, Gaz and Ang, Carol, and Chris at various stages. 1-3 May spent at the Beer and Music festival, Kirby Lonsdale. 4th at wvw's house near Shap. Then wild camping at Glencaple on the Nith Estuary on the 5th. The 6th we spent at Hilary's place (Bodgerndog) near Penpont, then on to Moniaive Folk festival from the 7th to the 10th May. Then today 11th, we are spending at the picnic area at Dhoon Bay just to the East of Borgue and near Kircudbright. Tomorrow we are heading back East towards Carlisle and Penrith. kangooroo caz billieblue stonedaddy and anyone else who wants to meet up, should be in Carlisle area from 12th to 15th and then hoping to see Peatbog Faeries in Keswick on 15th before heading back down.

caz will probably be just north of Keswick on the 13th to 15th. I can let you know where. If I can't get a signal I'll go into to Keswick on 14th to check PMs etc. It won't be far off the M6 J40. Rubbertramp - sorry to miss you. I've been a bit slow about posting details, but we were in Moniaive over the weekend with about 6 or 7 other people from FMUK. Amazingly @wvw and I met up with haddie today near Kirkcudbright. Just a chance meeting in a car park at Dhoon bay - he is touring Dumfries and Galloway with his partner - top guy!

Went round Keswick again this morning. Quite a posh place full of Tory voters, you can see them all in the very twee supermarket, Booths.
Went for a drive round over the Honister pass then to Buttermere, and back over the Newlands pass to Keswick. Stopped at Newlands to see Moss Force Waterfall. Then on to Ambleside for a fill up after 600 miles. Still got one bar left so it will probably do about 670 on this tank and 700 on the reserve.
After Ambleside, went over the Struggle Pass, which links up with the Kirkstone Pass at the Kirkstone Inn from where I am posting this. Just stopping for a quick pint and then will meet up with Caz later at the Sportsman's Inn, Penruddock.
Today I have seen Derwent Water, Buttermere, Thirlmere, Grasmere, Rydal Water, Windermere, and later Ullswater, so have done about half the lakes in a day!

Small world eh Firefox? Was good to meet you and wvw the other night. We moved on to a cracking little bay that night...only about 10 mins further down the coast. Just got back to civilisation(sadly) about an hour ago. Had a great time and will put some pics up tomorrow. By the way wvw....do you want a small dog ;-)

Amazing to meet you like that it's true!
An update of the last few days. After touring the lakes for a bit, I met up up with Caz and wvw at the Sportsman's and we wilded in a layby north of there before hitting Keswick for the Mountain Festival gig. After the concert we stayed in Keswick central car park overnight before going to spend Saturday at Castlerigg stone circle. Caz and I stayed at Castlerigg overnight while wvw has gone off to a stint at the animal rescue near Shap today. I'll meet up with her later on before heading back south while Caz makes her way north to meet up with another group of camper friends in Dalbeattie.
All in all, a great tour with lots of music, and met up with more people than the average convoy, so have quite enjoyed it.
More pics and vids to follow!

Many thanks WVW & Firefox. Lovely meeting up with you for a few days. Enjoyed the live music in Keswick and would never have thought of visiting Castlerigg so a big thumbs up from me & Jazz. Now in Penrith and planning to head north of the border soon.

Is the donated dog intended as a meal for Diesel? It nearly was ;-) I have a theory... The smaller the dog, the more hassle and noisy it is... That's my experience with mine over the years.

Now in Penrith and planning to head north of the border soon. Nice to see you and Jazz again. Hope you got watered ok at Penrith ;-) A great day yesterday for Castlerigg, rare to have such cracking views of Helvellyn, Blencathra and Skiddaw. Enjoy your trip up north, give me a shout when you are heading south again, and if I'm around we could meet up, I can show you the road which leads to the famous Full Moon Club bothy. Or a night at Wetsleddale Reservoir rewatching Withnail and I perhaps.

Got back today at 10.30pm
Quick cost report on the holiday:
Miles 900
Diesel: (full to full)
Ambleside 26.75 litres at 121.9p = £32.61
Keele services M6 14.00 litres at 140.9p = £19.73
Tesco Baldock 83.26 litres at 118.9p = £99.00
Total = 124.01 litres = 27.29 gallons at £151.34
Miles per gallon = 900/27.29 = 33mpg Pence per mile = 15134/900 = 17p per mile Tanks = 124.01/90 = 1.378. Thus, miles per tank (range) = 900/1.378 = 653 miles
About 500 miles were motorway at 60-65mph, 400 miles were mixed roads, steep hills, motorway and urban cycle at 30-50mph
Other costs:
Festivals: £25 + £40 + £15 = £80
CD's: £12 + £10 = £22
Food and drink and living expenses £85/week = £170
Total cost £423.34
Just over £200 a week for a 900 mile holiday with 3 festivals and 2 CD's, inc food and living, I think is pretty good value for a holiday.
On this holiday, I did about half the number of miles of a usual Scotland convoy and also drunk a lot less, so that helped with the expenses overall.

Finally got home tonight after 13 days on the road. Yes WVW, I got watered at Penrith, thanks, that put me on for a while. I came back all in one go today, 277 miles with just a couple of service stops so no chance to meet up. Internet was decidedly weak and patchy or lacking most of the time so only just seen your post. After Carlisle I found a CC CL for one night for shower, water fill, loo emptying - £12 inc EHU so not too bad. Then a nature reserve, Dumfries & a night in Dalbeattie before meeting friends at a site there for two nights - but we didn't like it very much so went on to the other side of Stranraer and found a little gem of a site. (My friends were in tents so needed sites.) Now worn out after a lot of walking up and down hills, I think I need a holiday to recover.
