Well, I'm orft wildcamping again in the summer, but not taking the van. Another canoe trip, this time me and my mate are going to do the River Wye over a week, camping in tents along the bank, similar to what we did on the Gt Ouse last year.
I still want to do Lomond, but reckon we will need 2 weeks for that and my mate is too busy workwise at the moment.
Anybody else done the Wye?

I have canoed on the Wye, but only an afternoon with Kangooroo and Jonathan.
My kayacking was a bit rusty, but soon got into it again! Haven't done the camping in canoes though, that sounds fun.

Needless to say I have canoed on the Wye many times. Until recently we lived in Ross-on-Wye just 4 minutes away from the River and are now 2 miles from its banks in our new home.
Which section are you planning to tackle?

Which section are you planning to tackle? We are hoping to do Glasbury to Monmouth over 7 days. I expect there will be a bit of portaging around some of the rapids, but I have a lot more research to do yet. I am a member on the Song of the paddle forum, so loads of threads on there to study.

That's a good stretch and non-tidal (becomes tidal at Brockweir). I'm also on the Song of the Paddle forum, although haven't visited for a while since becoming embroiled in the house-move. We moved the canoes today, looked wistfully at them and are looking forward to March when hopefully our move will be complete and normal life can resume again.
If you have the opportunity to extend your route down to Redbrook or Brockweir - I'd go for it.
