Me again... Supposed to be studying but have spent most of the afternoon searching for new insurance company and not sure why i didn't ask you guys in first place! So, insurance up for renewal in Feb. To be insured: Hymer 542 CL 2008 plate Ford Chasis 2.2 engine Estimated value at £30,000 Lives on drive at home address Has Phantom tracker Awning added as a modification Me - 31 year old no convictions etc BF - 39 no convictions etc Need European travel Need European and UK breakdown Need legal cover Annual mileage? Not much! Dont' seem to go anywhere anymore 8K maybe? One claim last year from Scotland trip with bf where he drove into a post in a field! £7500 claim!!!!! (but that's another topic of discussion) 0 years no claims I have £591 from my current insurer! Safeguard Best i got so far was Carole Nash at £455. I used to have my motorbike insurance with them many years ago and their customer service seems to be ace but money is my motivator! Any ideas?

I actually think my Carole Nash quote is good. A shame because my previous insurer (Safeguard) have been so good! Especially with the whole recovering my van from a Greek island thing :DDDD
Pity my bf isn't a better driver! He has been booked onto an IAM course though so hoping next time we go away i won't be so up tight about his lack of spacial awareness...

Yes, the 0 years no claims is going to cost a bit more. £455 doesn't sound too bad considering that, the value of your van which is quite a bit more than our usual old bangers/self builds, and also 31 years old is young for the forum - lucky you Ems is closest to you in age at 34 but her van was worth 10th of your value and also she had 3 years no claims and was £330. I'd be surprised if you got much under £450. Send the bf on a course!! Mind you, I can talk, I ran over a rock in the dusk two years ago, and my spatial awareness is pretty good. Still haven't sorted our the dent in the sill, but it is probably £600 quids worth.

Wow, i'm getting some very surprising quotes of £380 ish, best so far is £348.32 with Staveley Head Seems the no claims bonus thing doesn't matter on motorhomes, a lot of the insurance companies are telling me it doesn't matter how many you have as a lot of companies don't use them for us. Weird! Always annoys me that my motorbike no claims can't transfer to other vehicles because the fact that i have not had any accidents on the most dangerous thing on the road and most likely thing to be involved in an accident should count for something surely! Any way the search continues and will post the results hopefully when i get them soon...

I've been with Comfort & tbh the one time that I had an issue they were fantastic, sorted the issue straight away. This year I got a quote from Safeguard & it worked out over £100 more than Comfort. I told safeguard that I wouldn't be interested in taking them up on the offer based on price. The sales person said she would look to see if I was entitled to any further discounts & very quickly came back telling me that they could beat comforts quote by over £20. I went with them on the grounds of unlimited European mileage
