Dover Patrol Monument, Granville road, St Margarets Bay , Nr Dover. CT15. (Cant find exact postcode.) Coordinates 51.156N 1.396E A great WCL overlooking the English Channel, with views to France on clear days, and very quiet. Sat right on top of the White Cliffs; used this spot before catching the ferry to France.( It is a 15/20 minutes journey to the ferries at Dover.) The carpark is at the end of a long lane, the last half mile or so is unmade and quite rough in places, just drive slowly. There are no barriers and no apparent parking restrictions. There is a cafe in the old coastguard station but it only opens on a seasonal basis, and possibly only at weekends. The location would not be suited to large vehicles as the approach is along country roads and through the village of St Margarets. As a guide our vehicle is 6.7 metres long and we had no problems, apart from bouncing along the last bit. Nearby are several pubs which offer food. There is a pub in St Margarets Bay, which is in a very nice location, but the approach is very steep and very narrow. There at least 3 other pubs/hotels in St Margarets on the Cliff offering food, along with a small shop. All these places could be reached on foot, taking approx 30 minutes. The walks along the cliffs are stunning. Google Maps link Dover patrol monument location

Nice Write-Up! Agree 'bout the Last Bit of the Track....Makes the Drove Road Feel Like Fresh Tarmac! Last Time I Parked in Dover Tho', I Stayed in the Cliffs NT Car-Park......It Was Dark & REALLY Foggy So I Wimped Out!!...Besides, They'd Left the Gate Open For Me!!!
