The rights and technology for the LDV Maxus were bought by the Chinese giant SAIC. The SAIC LDV Maxus V80 is now produced in China and recently has been marketed in Australia www.goauto.com.au/mellor/mellor.nsf/story2/B211A9F043EB7E15CA257AFC007B573CIt was the widest in the class when made in UK. Do you think it will ever make it back to be sold in the UK? The updated version looks like good conversion potential! Presumably the Aussie version is RHD. I wonder if some LDV fans will ship a few over like others did with the Bongo from Japan! Trivia Corner: Did you know that SAIC was once the Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation and that LDV stands for Leyland Daf Vans

Old Maxus was a little dated, but I really don't know what they have done to it now. I'd want to test one of the new ones before I made a big call. Engine definitely been uprated, but it still has a 5 speed box which sounds a weak point. Also some of the conversion to RHD seems to have been rushed.
The old Transit was definitely dated but the latest models have stepped up the pace again. May be the same with the Maxus?
