I did my Bedford CF with plasterboard. I think it all weighed too much, and I never checked, but seeing as you have checked the weight and used limited amounts it should be OK. I used plasterboard nails into battens and it did crack the plasterboard around the nails in a few places with the vibration. Generally it was OK though.
I didn't skim just taped and painted, but I trust your expertise in this area. Looking forward to seeing it!

......and the experimental finish. Yes I've skimmed the bastard! I know, I know. I can hear you all shouting from here. As far as I know, no-one has ever done this in a vehicle and if it ain't been done before I'm going to have a go at it. Anyway, I put a bit of PVA in the mix as a final anti vibration measure and we'll see how it goes. Just for any Welsh visitors to this thread..... Daddy's little helper! She's rubbish at washing buckets out and she shits all over the place! Don't take any notice of the doubters, you just crack on; time you get the coving up and the wallpaper on they'll wish they'd thought of it!

Funny you should say that lad.....I acquired for free some old headstones originating from that very area the other day, about a quarter of a ton's worth.....a couple of the best inscribed bits are going to form a hearth and fireback.

Paint job complete and lights/12v socket all wired and fitted. Overhead cupboards took a feckin age to do but now complete. I have used the cupboard doors from me old van. All the timber is either reclaimed or cheap off-cut sell offs from the local DIY in Newquay (Micro DIY). An amateur job but they're sturdy and I like em! Started on the kitchen unit yesterday....the most advanced joinery I've ever attempted. It took most of the day to get the grill housing to fit! Have cut some plastic trim around the windows leaving a 5mm gap. Does any one know a clever and easy way to slip something down the back so as the innards of the unit won't be visible from the outside? I was thinking white backed hardboard sealed with silicone or flexible caulk? Have been running around in her for the last few days while I get the builders van fixed. Been on some bumpy old roads and as yet no sign of any cracks.

Moved in today! Isn't it amazing how much shite you accumulate over five years....five bin bags down to the tip tomorrow. Carpeted the floor and seating area last Thursday, £10 remnant from a local warehouse, finished off with some nice timber trim that used to form the (unused overcab bed in the old van. Finally got the kitchen unit finished too. Sink, cooker and cupboard doors from me old van. A pain in the arse to plumb the old cooker in as I discovered it was fed by the old imperial 5/16th gas pipe and had to feed 8mm to it. My mate Danny the plumber sorted it though with a 6mm olive and a part from my old fridge. Built a cubicle to store the toilet, with a door and a hinged lid. Never saw the point of all that wasted space in motorhome bogs when you mostly only go in there to sit down. Anyway I've got to get into the habit of closing the curtains if I'm to avoid the whole world keeling over at the sight of me lillywhite cheeks when I get up to wipe my arse! Plenty still to do, including covering the window strucures (reveals heads and cills) Any ideas? They will be very fiddly to cover with fabric or carpet....was discussing papier mashe with someone yesterday....what do you think?

Bed is at the back using cushions from old van as previous page but quite high so some leg dangling needed for some!
Windows are going to be tricky whichever way you go. Papier mache is a shot. Or that mouldable carpet or thermoplastic or maybe a scrap van that you can recover window surrounds from, then cover with material.

The more I think about it papier mache may be quite good. Especially if you can peel it off using some kind of release agent, making in sections, then you can get at all sides and apply some really good waterproofing/sealing on it like yacht varnish. Then cover with a thinner material which is easier to work with, then stick the sections back on with sikaflex or screws and decorative caps if you want to make them easy to get off if you need to replace or recover a section.
