If you haven't got a clue, there are some cheap ones on Ebay...don't know what they are like, though. Welcome to FMUK!

I'm not a confident driver n its a wee nippy n compact van...just feel its gonna isolate me more from my friends. None are into this and ..oh..dunno...just didnt enjoy it and thot i'd LOVE it. :-(:-(:-(

Give it a few months. If it's a small van you can use it for your personal transport too. That's what I do with mine - dual use vehicle Try camping at a festival with friends or somewhere like that to start maybe? Or come to one of the festivals with us lot. There's one on Lincolnshire coast which is free, 8-9 August. I'm not going to that one but loads of people from here are like Anne, Carol, and wvw. After the last couple of years when I've been on meets, rallies, and convoys I've made loads of new friends from the wild camping people. I'm quite happy with my own company too though, which helps, but when going away for a weekend or more there's always so much to do so that the time flies!

Yeah it's a small van. I'm off in the summer but entertaining my 9 year old too!! On a tight budget! Yikes...expensive insurance..tax as dvla won't change it from a van to a camper..that on top of i know nothing about cars let alone vans..never mind campers and camping!! What was i thinking!!! lol NUTTER!! Gonna go up to Oban and see how that goes. Camp site fees are dear tho eh!! AAhh well... what was i thinking!! Next thought should maybe read "for sale"

If you want to stay on a campsite there's a free one at Sheildag just above Applecross and the one one at Ullapool is only £11 a night with all facilities. Bit further north than Oban though! But you can usually find small campsites CL's etc for less than £10. I'd go for laybyes and carparks and lochsides however , it's free It's not too bad once you get the idea... if you get stuck, post here!

Hi and welcome to the forum. so your existing friends are not into travel exploration, quiet retreats, noisey campfire BBQ's boozy meets, sober meets, exciting wild scenery? Well tough luck for them, you will make many many more friends with a campervan and really enjoy the freedom. you can use campsites if you need to for the youngsters sake or wildcamp on the foreshore, or alongside of a loch, wake up surrounded by deer, sheep or seabirds your choice, and the choices are always yours.
