Thought I'd better do a quick intro having just joined, may be lurking for a bit as I still don't have a van but hope to soon! I used to have a T4, now looking for something bigger after a winter of being patient! I recognise a few on here Beau and I look forward to catching up again at a meet sometime soon (once we have found a van we are happy with, Beau is very fussy!)!!

Hi Ems! Are you back or still in NZ. Look forward to catching up sometime. I'm at Doodles bash this weekend - well supposed to be - haven't set off yet - it's bloody raining again just as I was getting the van ready

NZ never came off, I don't think the company I work for knows what they want so just been keeping my head down! I've been getting my house sorted over the winter and have now started looking for a van again :-)

The Autosleeper was ok, its on ebay so if I want it I need to bid on it, I was hoping no one would bid and I could make an offer but someone put a bid in just before I went to view it, I think it will go above my budget now. I'm after something that was bigger than the T4, I'd like to be able to stand up in it and have room to get up with the bed down! In an ideal world a seperate room/cupbaord with a shower (or at least a wash area) and toilet would be a bonus! I'm limited to a max length of 17ft and no wider than a transit ideally, the autosleeper legend was bang on that. I'm not in a rush, I'm sure the right one will pop up. The one Beemer has for sale looks good and is a possibility but I can't get to Sheffield to view for a while, I'm starting with the local ones first so if its still forsale and I fancy a day trip out I may contact him for a look. I'd already spotted it on ebay. Ideally I'd like something like this, I like this layout with the small wash room at the back, if anyone knows what conversions this is let me know, I know its an Autosleeper but what did Autosleeper call it? This one looks good but getting to view it and then to pick it up is difficult, I'm reluctanct to bid on something I've not seen and they are often not as good as they sound! www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140975726169?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Definitely get to see it Ems, you are right. And make sure address matches up with V5 etc. Not only condition to inspect, but so many people scamming on ebay trying to sell vans which don't exist, or vans which don't belong to them. I would also prefer to do a cash sale and drive it away there and then. Sometimes they may take a cash offer if you turn up in person and it avoids scampal etc You also have the van in your clutches before you part with any cash.

I've just put a deposit on a Fiat Ducato, its an Autohome Camelot I'm looking forward to picking it up in a week or so, it needs a little bit of cosmetic attention (new curtains and upholstery, flooring is badly done but easily replaced) and there are a few bits I'd like to put back (like the oven if I can source one), the main thing is it all works and its MOT'ed and taxed so I can use it. Hopefully I will catch up at a meet sometime soon Link to some photos below; s296.photobucket.com/user/minifun_photo/library/Fiat%20Ducato

Lotusanne has a similar model from Autohomes on the transit. I can't fault the layout - very practical. Hope it works for you, Ems.

Thanks, looking forward to picking it up and giving it a try out! I think its been owned by a DIY enthusiast as it has loads of lights and sockets etc! I'm going to try and put it back to how Autohomes built it but with sensible additions like a solar panel.

Thanks, I should have picked it up by next weekend and hoping for a couple of nights away in it to test everything and get my head round what all the switches do!
The main plus point is I'll be able to stand up in it whilst the bed is made up! I only had about a 2ft square of floor space in the VW so things were a bit challenging!

When you pick it up Ems, get them to demo everything and video it on your phone. Much easier then to remember how everything works.

Good idea! I'm going to rip most of the switches and electrics out and start again as I don't trust other peoples DIY electrics but it will be useful to know what switch does what before I start!
