Don't watch it, as no TV licence, but read about it in the Metro this morning on the way into London for a meeting. It said she won in a contest in Italy with recipes containing pork and lobster. Was that a lobster scotch egg, LOL.

ps will be practising my masterchef recipes in Scotland......haggis and neeps anyone? I will gladly partake, but I am looking for "restaurant quality" food cooked to tight deadlines. Also fusion cooking... haggis and neeps with ginger, coriander, chilli, and basil would be nice

Simple food for me , food to eat not to play with too much handling. Hundreds of pound for a meal whenthere are people living hand to mouth obscene

Yeah, true, but we still have to eat and you could say masterchef encourages people to cook their own delicious food rather than something out of a packet, its is a life skill that a lot of people dom't have, and home cooking is MUCH cheaper. I agree about the ponceyness of it though, as if you would ever triple cook your chips and serve them with your fish cooked three ways!!

I've always enjoyed cooking, and hate eating out as i'm so often let down, fooled by the glitzy write ups. I did have lunch, about £11 at Raymond blancs caff in Bristol and the grub wasn't bad. the service was brilliant but that wasn't what i'd come for ! so now I know what fine dining is all about, i'll probably never do it again.

Were there any promising recipes from the series suitable for motorhome cooking? I know some of them can be a bit involved but there are some good ideas in there!

Mostly its vacuum sealed thrice cooked blowtorched type of fare but they did go to Italy and study rustic italian food and that was all about fresh ingredients, pasta dishes are great for cooking in vans, there was a parmesan cream sauce that sounded nice, otherwise msotly to fiddly or time consuming for vans i think. especially without an oven never mind a blow torch or a "sous vide"!!

I'm sure we can improvise and create our own masterpieces. Agneau aux herbes fines dedans feuille d'argent, cuille lentement sur moteur diesel.

Nominate you as camp chef, Vernon! I wouldn't dare to take such a position among distinguished company like yourselves, but I can provide some of the equipment and ingredients... with genny going we can also have electric grill oven and 500W microwave for certain dishes... but Anne is to down to provide the blow torches, dried ice, and gold leaf I cooked for my dad yesterday with whatever was available and did this: Chopped ginger root, tarragon left over from the vodka. Fry in some oil and and add freshly ground black pepper. Add chopped mushrooms and fry for 5 minutes Add some additional liquid in the form of Flycatcher ginger beer Add hot smoked salmon fillet and deboned cooked jellied eels Stir fry for two minutes Add coarsely chopped sage and coriander Stir fry for a minute Lemon juice and pepper at the end. Weird ingredients but it tasted great!
