The woodland site would not necessarily be anything to do with the forum. Just a few friends who have clubbed together and bought some land. OK we all happen to be members of a forum as well and the original idea was mooted on the forum, that doesn't make the forum liable for anything.

I'd say no, as this would then render a 'Free Motorhome Forum' not free & would be going down the same avenue as the Motorhome forums in a back door manner. Although, I think that non pressurised contributions are fine as long as the collection jar isn't being shaken in ones face & maybe it's just left on a table for members to contribute as they feel. Not sure about raffles either, as people often feel pressurised to buy tickets when either they don't want to or can't afford to. It could otherwise be perceived as the first step towards wildcamping forum etc!
I think that buying woodland is a seperate issue & personally one that I wouldn't be interested in. I love the freedom to explore & find new places, it's what the adventure of wildcamping is about for me.

We've gone with the majority vote here, fletch and are just winging it. We have had a few raffles and donations and got about £300 in the kitty, but we don't really know what to spend it on! It will probably be used for free business cards and car stickers so that people can help promote the forum and keep it going with new members at no cost to themselves

I have read every post on here with great interest so here is my 10 peneth not interested in the woodland project but good luck to the ones that are and hope it happens for you, as far as paying a nominal fee each meet then that's fine too my question is would that be at meets purely organised and attended by FMUK as a lot of the meets tend to be joint FMUK and WC like the Hereford meet is £6.50 a night then if FMUK members then have to pay £2/3 on top ?? Then the issue of buying pots and fire pits ect the question comes up every time who would carry it but it never gets resolved nobody comes forward on these threads and actually says yes I will carry the gazebo to every meet or make sure it gets passed to someone who is attending. So its great having these chats about it but before buying items the basic needs sorting who will be responsible which is why I prefer the adhoc way where a meet is posted and you ask can someone bring a firepit, a BBQ, a gazebo or wood to burn, while on the subject I have a large BBQ the one that was used to feed 60 odd people at the Greywell/Stonehenge birthday bash and would be willing to bring to any meet for communal use just ask. Hope I made my stance clear and not offended anyone. So don't wish to be involved in a woodland purchase Happy to pay a few quid at meets organised by FMUK And more than happy to share large BBQ at meets but it must be on request as I do not keep it in the van.

I don't think we have that yet. Charlie has £60 and I'll top him up to get the one he wants which is about £75 odd from memory.

I never go to any "meets" but I think 'tis sensible to discuss anything to do with money early rather than late. Nothing blows clubs to pieces more than wrangles about cash, imo.
What ye need is a caravan or an ordinary trailer. Then ye could tow about all your communal kit.
Failing that, and even better, would be a container, stationed at all these here woodland sites. members could have some sort of radar key.
Only joking!
Good luck with whatever comes to be!

Very well put Annie was about to post something along them lines so hope you don't mind I'll just say ditto. Although I do think having a gazebo could be a good thing a place for everyone to go to if weather is not good providing the camp is at a appropriate place for it's use of course. Will check to see if the one in the shed is still any good, if it's ok there is no probs for me to bring it to a meet.
