Hello everyone, I'm new on here but one or two may know me from another site. Been camping, caravanning and Motorhoming since the 70s. Had all types of MH but now have a self build Citroen Relay.

Thank you for the welcome. We have met Firefox, and good choice of wheels ellisboy. How's yours running? Replaced to top strut bearings in mine last year plus the old speedo stopping/sticking/slowing up syndrome fixed other than that, excellent and 35 MPG too. I'm a very happy Citroen Bunny!

How long is the glow plug cycle? Perhaps needs new timer relay? 40 to Brighton 37 back, shows that it must be going downhill south! Hi Funky, Nice to see you on here.

Timer relay? I'll have to check that out. It's odd because I was getting that mpg when it was virtually empty, now weighs around the 3T mark.

Timer relay? I'll have to check that out. It's odd because I was getting that mpg when it was virtually empty, now weighs around the 3T mark. I HAVE JUST READ YOUR POST AGAIN AND I FEEL I MIGHT BE A PLONKER HERE!!! IT IS A DIESEL? TELL ME IT IS, IF SO THEN: Your Glow plugs are timed according to the engine temperature. When you switch on the little glow plug warning light comes on. After a few seconds the warning light goes out. Count the number of seconds it is on for. If it goes out almost immediately then there is a fault. Plug in a fault code reader and it will tell you that either (a) The temp sensor is faulty, or (b) the relay is faulty. or (c) the engine management unit is faulty. If there is a 'no fault' shown on the reader then the glow plugs could be the problem. If the glow plug warning light is on for a good 5 sec's plus, then: Check that all clamps around fuel pipes are good and tight and that there are no cracks in them. Fuel will overnight, make its way down to the lowest point in the system if there is an air leak, and come start up time the engine will be fuel starved and have to pull up fuel from the system BEFORE it can even enter the engine. IF IT'S A PETROL ENGINE THEN: How long have the plugs been in the engine. If over 6,000 miles, change them. Motorhomes do very little mileage normally and are laid up for some times 4 months or so, a used engine is a cleaner engine. Clean any HT cables and any oily grime around HT cables and coils etc: Spray with WD40 or similar. Make sure that the battery cranks over at a good rate of knots. Check that all clamps around fuel pipes are good and tight and that there are no cracks in them. Fuel will overnight, make its way down to the lowest point in the system if there is an air leak and come start up time the engine will be fuel starved and have to pull up fuel from the system BEFORE it can even enter the engine. If none of this works then: Check your Air intake sensor. This gives the information of the air temperature going into the engine and the Engine Management system adjusts the amount of petrol supplied to the engine (Just like the old choke system). The sensor is usually mounted on the box behind the air cleaner. Next cold morning carefully remove the plug from this sensor and try to start the engine.. if it starts the same as it has just lately then there is the problem. If it is worse or not starting at all then the sensor should be OK. On the subject of fuel consumption, I was being funny when I said It must be downhill. Your fuel consumption looks very good to me, it would say that you have a damn good engine there.
