Mine is on the Three network
1GB £10 3GB £15 7GB £25
Worst thing is the data runs out 30 days after activating even if unused.
Best thing is you can get it just about anywhere in the UK - much better coverage than other networks I thank.
If you want to mess around buying SIMS on ebay I believe you can get them at good prices with preloaded data which lasts longer than the month but since I use mine usually within a month, I don't bother.

Vodaphone - £15 for 1GB with no expiry date. (Alas, very poor 3G coverage in the areas I visit and none at all at home.)

I ve been using three since they offered one and having tried the others you re right they do have the best coverage.

Have you considered Fon? www.fon.com/enI used it for a while in the UK, and found it quite useful. And free, after the initial investment, or free with BT. I have found a couple of hotspots in Europe, but it is far less common there. If you use a long range antenna, it is pretty good for most purposes.

Have you looked at Samba dongle? Data earned, by just 'watching' ads, not as onerous as it sounds and doesn't cost data usage to do it. The only cost is purchasing dongle and sim £25 or sim or micro sim £5, there's a discounted price if someone refers you. A samba sim also works in '3' mifi unit, in which case you need a sim and mifi unit.

If someone refers you, you can get your sim for just £2.50... they just need your email address. I'll leave it to Moonshadow to do because then she'll get a referral fee She introduced me to Samba for my iPad 3G and now I've also got a Samba sim in my 3 mi-fi, which works a treat so far. Amazing scheme. .. long may it run

Do they show the same adverts every day and why do you only get a few to look at each day?

The adverts vary a bit, I don't watch them just set them going. I find that I get the most adverts if I am on a broadband connection, if you use your samba connection, you don't use credit to watch the ads, they don't give you as many to watch. I have also found that the most adverts are available first thing in the morning. If you have applied for the sim card you should be able to use your account to build up some credit for when your sim arrives, just log in and give it a go! If you are using a laptop or desk top you can have samba opened in a separate tab and just keep hitting the ads, it doesn't work like that on my ipad I have to keep the page open with the ads on. Good luck Ps just looked now and I have 4 ads available, u usual for this time of day

Are you watching them on a computer/laptop? I discovered that you get far more ads if you don't install the 'battery' software and just go to the website and logon at... www.sambamobile.com/adsUsing the battery app on my iPad, I never ever get offered the 'lucky dips' that I get by going direct to the website on my laptop... so I tend to top up on my laptop when I'm watching tv or something. You seem to be able to watch the lucky dips again and again. Over time, the ads do change gradually. Oh and watch out for emails about 'double data' days, where you can either earn twice as much as usual or use only half as much as usual

If you use a long range antenna, it is pretty good for most purposes. fon costs because you have to pay for a home broadband and share your bandwidth to be part of the system. same with btopenzone you have to pay for and maintain home broadband. but you can buy btopenzone separately if you want to use it withought paying for the home router but whatever way you will pay a subscription.

I would just mention that BT-Fon, BT Openzone, and BT Broadband WIFI is all being rebadged under the name BT-WIFI
(It's worth considering a sub if you are fulltiming and want wireless access)

Glad you're up and running with Samba... it's great isn't it As for France, I haven't any experience, sorry. Whenever I've wanted an overseas solution for my PAYG phone, it's always worked out cheaper to buy a pre-pay sim once you get there... I guess it could well be the same for data. I remember in New Zealand, I bought a new dongle complete with data allowance and it served us well for the time we were there but things have definitely moved on since 2009! By the way, the New Zealanders fell about laughing when I asked for a dongle... apparently it means something totally different over there! I've seen lots of recommendations for getting a powerful aerial and wi-fi booster to pick up free wi-fi overseas. Now I see that the motorhome wi-fi people are now also selling 3G sims for Europe. Have a browse around here for various ideas: www.motorhomewifi.com/

I've used 3 network for some years now and they have the best coverage in the UK. I let my O2 and Voda dongle expire as they were both pretty dismal and Voda has gone mental with prices lately. 3 Network also works in many European countries the same as it does at home, I've just enjoyed 3 months in Italy as a result
