We went to see Alabama 3 this weekend at a great little venue called the Picturedrome in Holmfirth. As you might guess its an old converted cinema with a great atmosphere, great layout with several areas to watch from, 2 bars and interesting building which retains lots of the old plasterwork etc. They get some good names on there too in spite nits smaller size (maybe holds 500?) The age range was good too - lots of older folk there still up for a good dance. Holmfirth is a nice little place too - I expected it to be full of Last of the Summer Wine tat, but there was the odd reference here and there but certainly not overwhelming. We actually stayed in a campsite as we were with friends who needed a hookup, that was lovely too, we camped right next to a small mill pond, and cost £4 each way by taxi for us all. All in all one to recommend
If anyone can recommend any small music gigs please let me know as we have decided to try and take in a few - its a great reason to go somewhere different for the weekend
