I think kangooroo has got one in her meadow to monitor wild animals. I was also thinking of one for the wood to monitor any trespass as I will be storing a few tools there. May also catch the odd muntjac!

May also catch the odd muntjac! Yes, we have the Acorn 5210A camera trap. Actually we had two because the display on the first one failed after 6 months. They are good - we've picked up deer, badgers, wild boar, fox, rats, mice and humans. I've also used it at home to monitor some visiting rats and now to confirm they've moved on. www.amazon.co.uk/review/R1CDAG18N5JFF7/ref=cm_cr_dp_title?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00873DB3K&channel=detail-glance&nodeID=11052671&store=outdoorsThe Lidl model, when available, looks very similar in spec apart from having invisible LEDs. I would happily buy it though, if only for its lower price and 3 year warranty.

Mine wouldn't be hooked up all the time. I would have to plug it into the laptop when I was on site. Is this what you do with yours, or do you take the card out and check the footage?

I have two memory cards and two sets of AA batteries and swap them over on each visit, recharge the used batteries and inspect the pics/footage on the memory card.

Are they movement activated or do they run all the time?

They have a pir sensor so they are triggered when an animal (or human) steps into their range.
