Saw this pic on Pintrest uk.pinterest.com/pin/204210164330152575/Could be an idea subject to headroom. Bed slides under raised platform, partly to form sofa, and completely to give floor space for party etc.

Nice idea ,but after a while a PITA to keep setting up,as we found in our van.Going for a proper double mattress permanent down bed next time!

I agree with Rod, the l;ast van I built (a Renault Trafic had a full length settee which pulled out into a double bed, better than the previous van arrangement (an AutoSleeper) where seats folded down etc. The "new van" is an LDV Convoy.
A double bed (4ft wide) across the back halfway between floor and rooflining. This gives us a large boot and a location for the gas bottle, leisure battery and water tank. On the roof we have a 100 watt solar panel.
A very comfortable van for 2 oldies and the dog

Yep, got to agree. It's a real PIA pulling out the r n r bed and putting it away all the time. Fixed bed for me next time.
