I was asking Firefox about Mifi, but for the life of me cannot remember or find the thread. I'm thinking of giving this a go, and would appreciate any facts and figures.
Btw, I'm going into hospital tomorrow myself, so may not be replying promptly to any threads.

I use the Huawei E5331 MiFi Dongle No doubt others are available! Cost about £30-45 depending on where you buy it. Recommended for Three network or Mobidata which are among the cheapest data deals at the moment.

Hope all ok Sean, though that's a daft thing to say if you're going into hospital! Should've said hope it's nothing serious! Best wishes

Thanks, all.
I note martin lewis is saying 'tis better than a landline ( in today's e-mail). I don't quite understand: do the same old phones work, when ye get this thing?

Don't worry, BillieBlue! I'll be fine, whatever happens.
Off shortly.

He may mean it's better than a broadband data landline? If you want to do phone calls on wireless broadband, you will need an internet phone/voice messaging service like Skype, which is free and easy to use. Sean - good luck with your hospital stay. I had a minor op recently and can confirm the health services are still great, so I'm sure you'll be well looked after and will be fine

Thanks, Firefox! I'm out now but going back in next week. Feel better already. Yep, the NHS is brill, once ye get there. I think the GP bit is the prob.
Apparently, there was a prescription that I was supposed to take a couple of weeks before admission. A mix -up meant that I didn't even get the paper till I was coming out. It needs to be sanctioned by "my GP".
Well, I haven't really got a GP, so that was a pain. Anyway, went along to a nearby surgery and she said we can make an appointment for ye in late June. FFS!
Just to get a script signed! I'll be fully recovered or dead by then.

I have to admit I'm baffled by this mi-fi v landline thing. I think I'll muddle along with a payg set up for the timr being. No point getting locked in to any contracts.
Off topic, but back to the hospital thing: Because there's only thin curtains between beds, ye can hear every word of everybody's business. One know-all big head ( sounded like a typical wc-er) was talking down to the nurse and even to the doctor when he turned up to fit the drip terminal thing into this hero's vein. Suddenly, the booming schoolmaster's voice stopped and there was a big crash. The bloke had fainted and they hadn't even started! To listen to him he was off cycling across the Pyrenees in the morning followed by the Alps in the afternoon. Never even got the drip fitted without a big fuss.
Luckily, I leapfrogged ahead of him, for my body must have thought that drip stuff was alcohol or something as I drained the bag quick smart.
Beware the boastful man in the hospital bed!
All I need now is to stop bleeding and then get a barrowful of viagra and I'll be sound.
