Another one of those things that can make you go blind. I use welders gloves to protect me from one of them, and I reckon a welders mask for this one

I've taken pictures of a total solar eclipse before when I was just outside the area of maximum eclipse, I had filters on the lens and a pair of sunglasses on top of these can't remember if I looked through the view finder or just pointed in the general direction it was 1984 with a slr and before digital cameras, with digital I think it would be perfectly safe to look at the view screen as there is no way it can put out the same power that inputs from the sun

What time is the eclipse? Edit- just noticed, 7.30am, not my time of the day - will have to make a special effort! Another edit - In the UK these figures are more applicable: Global Type: Total Solar Eclipse London: Partial Solar Eclipse Begins: Fri, 20 Mar 2015, 08:25 Maximum: Fri, 20 Mar 2015, 09:31 Ends: Fri, 20 Mar 2015, 10:41 Duration: 2 hours, 16 minutes So not so early

I hope this grey cloud clears up for tomorrow, it won't be so much fun with clouds this thick

Managed to get a couple of photos when it started here but then it clouded over. Weird when it got very cold and the birds stopped singing.

I did notice how it got quite a lot lighter after 9.30, but the actual eclipsing bit itself wasn't too spectacular.

Me Sue and Annie was in Ullapool for it this year and it was a complete wash out. It was cloudy and drizzling very low mist. I went and bought a paper and watched the none event from the van. It did not even seem to go darker. Annie and Sue ventured out to the harbor but wished they hadn't. We bought some fish and chips and that made up for the disappointment with a lovely big fish that did a complete eclipse of the plate . .... Tom ....

No Tom I got up for a pee in the middle of the night and the light shining in the van through the window looked strange I was half asleep and by the time my brain engaged and I tripped over the dog trying to find my camera I got a photo on my phone just as it was fading its a greeny orange glow with stripy bits reflecting off the water I thought I had shown you it in the pub.
Check out face ache as I posted it on there.

Simplezz. Ah that explains it. Everyone was talking about the eclipse in the morning. But you moved on to the northern lights. Looked back there was a post off Jess about them. Right brain in gear now. But it was still rubbish . .... Tom ....
