I sent out an email yesterday to everyone.
Basically about sharing stuff with us as well as Facebook, if you get time, because a lot of useful information gets buried on Facebook, whereas here it can be categorised, searched and found quickly. Not only that it keeps us moving and helps members out.
But I never got the email on my own Hotmail. Did anyone else get it? I am wondering if it is a problem with my email being slow, or if it was a Proboards problem and it didn't get sent to anyone?!

Oh dang it, looks like non of them went I'll have to try to remember what I said now! But it was basically along the lines of wishing you a good up and coming season. And to say if you post on Facebook some interesting stuff, it just lines the pockets of Mr Zuckerberg. So spare a thought for FMUK too, cos we don't use your posts to generate profits, unlike other places, but we do need your posts to stay alive!! We've 36,000 posts now, which is averaging nearly 50 posts a day. Almost unheard of for a small forum like ours. But we have had some quiet times recently too, which is a shame, cos new visitors are less attracted. Also consider this, if you post some interesting info on Facebook, try finding it a week or two later if you have a busy feed Copy and paste takes but a moment, and your good stuff will be kept active. You'll find it 100x faster here due to our categorisations and powerful search. Even just coming back to say hello, or offering encouragement is very much appreciated, as often it leads to other contributions.

A few people feel down in t'dumps this time of year, but chatting on here should perk them up. Mind you, it only makes me envious when they post from tapas bars in Spain!!

Got it....whaddya mean you want fifteen quid a month! Whaddya mean £15, it's £25 tha knows... we're planning a water POI list, and another list showing where you can buy tabs and baccy, cos it's always tricky to find these The email probably went to California, New York and twice round the world before it got back to our Island

I'm putting my money where my mouth is and staying off FB, at least for a while I think I am guilty of posting on FB rather than on here, mainly because It is easier to share things on there. I'm not good at copying and pasting links to stuff. I need to learn.

You can do both I guess. Posting stuff on Facebook has the advantage that you may reach different friends, but if it is decent info it gets lost quick. I have run into that problem a few times when I tried to find the information on a festival or a link someone posted and it was buried under a few months of feed To copy/paste (on windows) 1. Highlight the text with mouse. Ctrl-C to copy 2. Place cursor in at your destination box/page. Ctrl-V to paste Android is a bit different on a touch screen, I've no idea about i-thingies!

I could have driven up the road and popped yours through the letter box, rather than bothering with California

Yep, got the e-mail message and logged in to write something, even though most of what I have to say is in breach of protocol, I think.
As it happens, I hate both fcbk and twatter, and never use them.
OK, fairly drab stuff, but I really would like this website to continue and prosper - against the odds, perhaps.
So a trivial message together with an apology for posting it, but, ye never know, it may help!
All the very best!

It's probably against the odds we have got this far, Sean! It was sad to see the recent demise of Motoroamers and Carry on Camping - well, Carry on Camping is still going but it only had 5 posts in the last year. Managing to get enough back links elsewhere on the web to give us page rank level 2 on Google would be a big help. Actually we are not doing too bad as per above. After a lull during the Xmas break and after, we are back up to about 200 visits a day and 40-50 posts a day. (Edit: I think this graph will update as the day goes by, so if you see a dramatic fall at the end, it's only the current day filling up with views)
