I've just been sorting out some data sims to use in France.Im going to do a test and rate them.I'm using two mifi's ,iPhone and ipad2.
Europa sim from Motorhome wifi, £32 to buy, with 5€ of credit? Its 3€ a day for unlimited data on that day,500mb daily usage, and you only pay for the days that you use it. The thing I like is that it is topped up online and only has to be topped up once a year to keep it active.
Mobi data sim which is fitted in a second mifi.ive been using this in the UK as a replacement for the now defunct Samba sim.Its on the 3 network and works very well.It says that it works in France ,so I'll be interested to find out.
BT Fon.As I've recently got their fibre optic broadband and signed up to BT wifi, this is another maybe limited option, depending on what areas we are parked up in.I tried it at work today and it connected to a customers BT hub,and worked fine on my iphone.

Me too. When I went to France last year I got so much information I couldn't work out what to use! I'm off to France next Sunday and I'm just as confused as last year! Any advice or recommendations gratefully received!

You could try a mobi data sim, seems to be the cheapest to get up and running ,but I haven't had the opportunity to test it in France yet!

Bonjour! I'm back now,so here's my experience in getting internet en Francais! The sim/ mifi that we used the most was Europa sim and Huawei mifi package from Adam and Sophie at Motorhome wifi. This combination was excellent and worked every time that it was switched on.The mifi worked well inside and outside the van and booted up quite quickly ,once turned on.I found that I used this the most ,mainly for the convenience of it working and not having to bother looking for free wifi.Coverage was also excellent and it never failed to have any .Topping up is quick and easy using paypal.Battery life also very good as it flashes fron green when charged ,to red when charging is needed. The only drawback for us was that we run iPhones and iPads and you can't check how much credit you have left,so you need to make a note.On the plus side though credit doesn't expire ,but you must top up with in 12 months.Cost is 3€ a day when it's switched on !so it really is PAYGO!
While waiting the the Europa sim to be activated I used the mobidata sim in another mifi. This worked on the on time that it was switched on ,so not really a comprehensive test.
Had mobile data/roaming switched off on our phones so didn't get to look for BT Fon.
Found some free wifi on a camping Municiple site ( details on my blog )
