Ok so on my travels my cutlery drawer decided to fall out of the hole it was mounted in and i sort of bodge fixed it by jamming a door against it to stop it happening all the time whenever i braked... This was fine for my daily needs on the road but now i have some down time inbetween adventures i should probably fix it. I was thinking standard drawer runners to mount it but got a bit stuck with how it would then stay closed? Looking for cheapo alternative to going and buying a proper camping car latch... Any ideas please? Oh and not sure if this is the right section for this thread... Not exactly home build job!

a drop down turnbuckle stays in place by gravity like an escutcheon cover.i never use drawer runners in a van,i'd rather just have the drawer sliding on a piece of ply.

Drop down turnbuckle a good cheapo fix you can make yourself for existing drawers. Could also try a magnetic catch as they are quite cheap, but need to get it nicely lined up for a good strong hold, or use a couple of them.
I made my drawers out of ply sliding in/on ply and a real tight jam fit to begin with. Then sanded them down a bit so they slid slightly, then a bit of the old candle wax trick to get them sliding a bit more. They are a nice snug fit now, so have never needed a catch.

These work a treat in my van. They worked out at 40p each from Screwfix :-)

Update: I've fitted a magnetic catch, and its crap! First trip and the drawer shot out ,spilling my best silver cutlery everywhere!! Also I forgot to put the catch down on the fridge door, wine ,beer and everything else rolled out.
Next experiment will be a strap of some sorts.

Here's my solution to a flying cutlery drawer. It works very well,as long as one remembers to close it before driving off!
