Does anyone have any experience of these? www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004E9QSO0/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLEIt takes ages for the condensation to clear off the windscreen in the van and I usually end up with a wet chammy and rags draped everywhere to dry off, and then a smeary windscreen which makes visibility poor when driving at night sn I end up having to stop and clean the inside of the windscreen with glass cleaner = another wet cloth. Apparently this will hoover up condensation. But because of the price, I'd rather have some recommendations before investing in it.

Thanks Nigel, hopefully Rob will see this thread and post. Someone on WC mentioned them and recommended them. But it's a lot to pay for a gadget so am wary.

This looks very good. It got 1700 out of 2000 five star ratings on Amazon and many of the poorer ratings were on battery life which will not apply for the van as small glass area. One caveat though, they are designed to be used vertically so the bottom part of the screen may be difficult because the dash gets in the way similar to a window sill.

The heater ducts are near the bottom of the screen and that part usually clears fairly quickly but it's the top half which takes ages to clear and which ends up getting smeared with a cloth. Am very very tempted to go for one - it's only 12w, 5.5 volts to charge so easy enough to recharge in the van. And as I've only got single glazing in the house, it would be really useful for in the house too, and would save getting mouldy window frames and having to have the windows open to clear the condensation off them. Am sooooooooo close to clicking the "Buy now" button. More info here on ebay.... www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400565363618?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

We have got one too . Works great but you have to use upright as it sprays water all over the place if tipped on it`s` side ! Means emptying frequently just to clear windscreen once but is handy . Needs to be done just as leaving as steams up again quickly . Got mine from screwfix the 60 model but best price I can find is B&Q at the moment search.diy.com/search#w=window%20vac&asug=

Thanks Charlie, they've got them in stock in my nearest store so I may have a run out tomorrow to get one.
Sorry I haven't replied, the past few weeks have been a nightmare and my head was up my arse but had some good news yesterday and am now bouncing and much better. Am not good on the phone though, got a proper phone phobia (not joking, it's down on my medical records) and it's really difficult to talk on the phone, am much better with text & email. Haven't forgotten about your plaque, just been too messed up to sort it but will get on with it asap.

Websites list £48 at Amazon, £49 at B&Q (without offer?) It seems a lot, but this is a very big problem for me living in van and doing late night starts, or early mornings, there is always piles of condensation in the cab. I would buy from Amazon as I get free postage from there, and B&Q a trek for me which would take diesel.

Both the prices I quoted were for the cheapest WV50 kit, just the vacuum, and not all the other cloths, fluids, and squeejees.

They're brilliant Jess. As Tom and Charlie said, if you don't hold them upright, the water spills back up from the tank and sprays back out of the bottom of the unit. But if you hold a cloth underneath when you tilt it to do the bottom of the windscreen, it is no big deal.
The machine leaves the windscreen bone dry and is absolutely effortless, I would thouroughly recommend.

I popped into B&Q today and they've got them in store £49. I was very tempted but they are bigger than I thought and I did wonder how they would do on the windscreen at an angle. robmac - do you use yours on your windscreen? I couldn't see how the water comes out when it's upside down as there's a cap over the hole in the water reservoir which you have to take off to empty it. I can't decide whether to go for the Karcher or the one in the ebay link in my post above (the 5th post in this thread) which is a different brand, same price but it includes various accessories including a spare battery. Any comments about the ebay one? gaz, I've got a 12v wet/dry vac and to be honest it's not much good, it's going to either the charity shop or the car boot. Good idea to try to make some kind of nozzle to fit it but it would probably need to be a decent quality vac, the one I've got hasn't got much power and you have to hold the button down all the time for it to work, it doesn't click on and stay on which is annoying and tiring on the thumb.

Yes I use mine on the windscreen all the time Jess. Problem is, when you tilt it the water heads back to where it is sucked in and somehow sprays out of the bottom of the unit. As I say, I just hold a cloth over the bottom whilst it is tilted and it's no big deal. It really does make a good job of drying the windows.

We have had one for quite a while - as Rob says they do spray water out if you tilt them too far. Thanks Rob - never thought to put a cloth over the end to catch the spray - going to try a cloth and large elastic band to fasten cloth to the machine.

I think I'm going to go for the one in the ebay link I posted, the red one with the accessory kit including spare battery, not Karcher but looks exactly the same except that the water reservoir is clear so you can see how much water is in it - the Karcher one has a black coloured reservoir.
It's got a 30 day money back guarantee and as an elec item there should be the standard 12 months standard guarantee in case of faults.
