Freight Train ... Guitar Tabs in G By Elizabeth Cotten (American folk Singer from 20thC - she played the guitar left handed but upside down and not restrung either, she just turned a normal one upside down and played base with fingers and melody with thumb!) I modified a cover version by You Tube guitarist Jeroem Groot This is a good one to learn whatever style you play. It's not too difficult fingering but tricky part is playing some of the melody "off the beat" which takes quite a bit a practice (for me anyway). This is what it should sound like from Jasmine Commerce at You Tube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vLXQh3qChM

Hallelujah - Leonard Cohen Instrumental - Guitar Tabs in C This not a beginner's piece. Some more tricky bars and fingerstyle higher position work. I can just about manage it though! Worth the practice NB If you just want to play along to the words/melody with finger picking chords, I can recommend this version: www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQyMoky6oK4 Brilliant video lesson and tutor!

The Godfather (Speak Softly Love) From the 1972 film soundtrack. Not too bad because it's mainly a melody line with a few base notes and the bass is often open strings. I did this one as a jpeg (You Tube: (not this version) But jazzed up www.youtube.com/watch?v=L28PB73Nzns )

Good old Marty, he has loads of vids on different stuff.
But a question on the tabs, are they tuning all the strings down a semitone eg E to Eb?

yeah metallica slightly tune the guitar differently ...but just the guitar in standard tune gives you the same song ...good enough for us amateurs anyway pmsl its not that complicated when ya get into it (he says maybe wishful thinking )lol the opening few notes sound really good once ya get the fingers up to speed

Hi Vern love the post Streets of London, is there any chance you could post it as a pdf to download please. If not and you are going to Ribblehead if it's not to much trouble print a copy for me. Thanks

No probs slider, I can do as a pdf too. You can also try right click on the image, then save image as... then open it up in an arts package eg MS paint which comes free with Windows and you will probably be able to manipulate it to print from there and fit to A4 page on the print command. Or open it up in a browser like chrome and that should print jpegs for you.(3 horiz bars in Chrome, top right hand corner has a print command in there somewhere) Plus I will bring some to RH so whichever way you should be covered. If you or anyone else wants any of the music/tabs above including freight train in hard copy at RH, let me know

If I get the hang of above THEN I'll try the fancy extra bits in the YouTube clip. You bringing your nice new geeetaaah to the Beer & Bangers, then, Gaz? You coming, Vern?

(I've got GarageBand on my iPad but no speakers - I just use an adaptor jack & headphones with a very basic electric guitar I was given.)

I've trying the very first 4 bars of the intro for Metallica's THE UNFORGIVEN. (It's a shame they only did 3 songs that I really like.) (Drue Jam acoustic lesson: youtube.com/watch?v=BbwVfERKvhQ)||------------------------------------|| x 4 ||--0-------0-----0-----0-----1-------||m ||------2-----2-----2-----2-----2-----||i ||--------2-----2-----2-----2-----2---||T ||--0---------------------------------||T ||------------------------------------||
It does my head in a bit learning these finger patterns, but is well worth it. Someday I might get to the next bit! (By the way, if you set the font face for your pasted in guitar tab to Courier New it comes out as you want it, like above.)

DETECTORISTS (By Johnny Flynn - for the TV series) Been TRYING to get to grips with this one. The intro bit is addictive - I need to get the hang of all of it. There's a decent YouTube lesson on it: youtu.be/eaKB9SNpVE8Full song: youtu.be/-ViJp1Y95fIIMPORTANT : Capo 2nd fret - but leave bottom string open (Equivalent of a dropped D)

Will you swim through the briny sea for me,
Roll along the ocean's floor.

Where a love lost at sea.

I'm working on Only Time by Enya at the moment.
The only version I can find is in D but I am rewriting it and arranging in the key of C for guitar. It's going to be super easy but with some great chords and picking which will sound really good.
