Where should we go for another musical gathering next year....?
Who would like to go back to the Green Dragon at Hardraw, Yorks?
What about the Station Inn, Ribblehead?
Maybe the Tan Hill Inn, N. Yorks (highest pub in England)?
Does anyone have any other good venues up their sleeve?
Should we do 2 meets, one up north and one further south?
Decisions, decisions!
Should I set up a poll?

I would go for another one at the Bothy at Shap as it is a small new music venue which deserves our support. Whereas all the pubs have an established income and bar profits etc Other alternatives, a midlands one at the Brownlow Arms - they have a separate room for private functions/music. A southern one at Stonehenge - campfire music etc or barn (Oxford - LeeLinda - distant PM memory ? )

Don't forget the Seasidefest 2014 on the 8th-11th August Yes I think we need to get that one on quick for a good low cost fest. There are loads of other things happening around that time.

We have made enquiries, we can use the field across the road to the farm, the barn is part of the main farm and might be available. The nearest pub is about 3/4 mile away.
Location... Near Wantage, oxon.

Can some techie explain why sometimes I can and other times can't, access links? The links won't work if you just SHOUT at them, my dear. They're very sensitive to bad attitude. Can can you good people start LIKING my posts a bit more please? I've only got 4 so far.

It's about 30 miles south of Doncaster, so a venue that is accessible to many.

Brownlow Arms is OK, but I like trying out somewhere new as don't get out on the camper enough so look for something different if poss... (although less rain and gales would be nice! )

They were not very friendly in the Green dragon and the charge was per person which made it expensive for some.

They were not very friendly in the Green dragon and the charge was per person which made it expensive for some. But which makes it affordable for those who are on their own. Plus the cost of fuel to get there, not too bad for me but a fair distance for a lot of people. I really think that we need to decide whether we want a northern or southern music meet as if we meet in the middle, the majority of folk will have a fair way to travel which makes it expensive anyway. I couldn't go further south than level with Manchester, and it makes it difficult for anyone further north than me. Also, one general meet will mean that it will turn into a big one and that will mean more difficulty in finding a suitable venue for a large number of vans. Also those budding musicians who are just beginning and learning are unlikely to feel confident enough to play, and it will just be the more confident musicians, as ever, who end up entertaining everyone. The bothy is always available for music meets and a lot of you now know what it's like and what to expect. Perhaps we could use that for smaller northern music meets, or for those further north, we could even look at a new venue in the borders so that some of our scottish friends may be able to come along. There's also Tan Hill up here which would be perfect for a meet, and I'm sure that gaz would know of somewhere suitable. I know that Herbenny was frustrated that there was little interest in a southern music meet but perhaps if this one were held a little further south, then the southerners could get there, and we northerners could have a meet (maybe even over the same weekend and we could skype between meets!) up here. Then both meets would be smaller, easier to accomodate, and would mean that learner musicians don't feel too intimidated by the accomplished musicians.

Yes we had a meet there a couple of years ago for about 20 vans.
It wasn't a venue I found, but Kimbowbill suggested it from her boating days. They have a very large car park and we just took a small corner of it. They seemed quite friendly to motorhomes. I'm sure it would be OK to stop over there if you asked, and also a good venue for another central meet. Nice walks along the canal to other pubs!
