Stockport tonight on my whirlwind tour after seeing Wvw yesterday and Tony is coming tomorrow morning, I think.
I may even head back via Rainbow Conversions in Wisbech to pick up a new stove and sink. Mine is battered after 6 years of continuous abuse including using for heating the van.

Tony came at about 4.00pm today and stayed for a tea and a chat with Aunty.
Stove looks good. About 1 foot square and will take some nice logs. Can't wait to get it installed.

I don't know if it has a make, I will ask Tony.
But it is 1 foot cube box, very well made and welded. Hinged door at the front with circular glass panel. No grate but I will probably put an ashpan in. Damper control on side and flue to back. Hotplate to top.

I noticed in the demonstration that they just splashed the water on the desk Gaz. I would have been more impressed if they had sucked the water out of the glass which is more like what you will use it for. At £5.25 though it is less than a packet of fags so can't go far wrong. Let us know how you get on with it when its been tried. .... Tom ....

noticed that tom...that to me would have been the benchmark test will let you know what the out come is I have got one of these - wvw gave me one she didn't want. I have used it a few times cleaning out the van. They do work after a fashion, so to speak, but the suction is pretty weak. So long as your not expecting Dysonesque performance! With vacuuming carpets, you have to scrape and dislodge the bits off the carpet with the tool or the friction sticking them to the carpet is stronger than the suction.

I should imagine it may be ok for that, though not tried. The sticking friction thing shouldn't be an issue with water.

I too ordered one of these thought it might be good for the dog hairs in the van and light dust and dirt plus the conde station on the window's worth a try at that price not expe ting great things from it but the named brand equivalent in the UK is £59.99.

gotta be worth a try ....i not expecting too much from a 12 volt motor.... but if it lifts a bit of water and fluff n crumbs ..ill be happy ,,,im expecting it to be very flimsy so i'll need to store it somewhere it wont get crushed

thanks to Alec you saved my back ....we now have 2 new LBs fitted in the van last year in scotland the old batteries nearly 4 year old where not performing like they used too and went flat quite quick so in the summer we fitted 2 100watt panels to the van (sweet) cheers again brother but i think the damage was already done ...so unable to cope with charging in dull winter daylight the batteries let us down again at new year so 2x115ah exide marine leisure battery's.... iam am assured have excellent performance are now lifted ..... £109.99 each free next day delivery BUZZIN did a lot of trawling the web looking for batteries ...there are cheaper batteries out there... but they're performance spec or reviews were not good for the money i think these should do well just wish i had the available height for 2 trojans for an extra 40 quid .... damn

Actually it is quite robust. The only thing I would fault it on is suction. Everything else is fine.

Adim on WC has a beauty that he got from Costco but it was a tad more than £5 think £80/90 springs to mind similar in size but stainless steel with black plastic attachments loads of suction on it.

I'm awake, good morning Campers, Just a thought! I use a 2000 watt Inverter cost me £43 from China, I always run my engine when its in use, as i wouldn't like to Bend the plates in the batteries, I don't need to, I run a cleaner, jigsaw, spray gun, soldering irons, the girls have run Hair dryers, electric Drill, 550w kettle, and my 800w Toaster, you can get a Goblin 1100 wet & Dri from Argos.
Goblin 1100 wet and dry compact vacuum cleaner. A small yet powerful cylinder vacuum cleaner. Available at good electrical stores and Argos for £49.95. Haydn, Yep it's the other one!

1000w at 12v still pulls 80A which alternator wont likely supply for any time but I agree it is much better than running without, as it will reduce battery load.
Let us know how you get on with you inverter in terms of longevity. I've seen mixed reports on some of the cheaper Chinese high power ones. They can only get better though, they seem to be churning them out now!

I am in the Motor Caravanners club. Two years ago they did a lot of research into batteries. They said lots of the batteries where the same make with different badges on them and where poor quality for the money. Others they opened up and found was really poor builds and some was expensive brands too. They did not name and shame anyone for some unknown reason, but they did say at the end, the good guys on the block are Excide and Banner. I had to fit a new battery to the little tow car and it was Excide I fitted. It sits outside hardly every used but it always kicks the engine over robustly no matter how long it has been stood. I wish I had that write up to put on here it was a good read. Not sure where that monthly magazine got to. Yeah Alec is a good un. I will never forget the help him and Sandie gave me in Scotland when my dog was dying. .... Tom ....

not many suppliers can give any or a half decent spec sheet on they're battery's Tom me n alec looked on the web for these exides and there it all is ...i now know what the new batteries can be charged too ...and have reset my solar charger to 14.8v cut off ....manufacturer stating charge between 14.7v and 14.9 my old batteries where unbranded ENERGY + 110ah and i could not find any info on them ...they did ok for a couple of years but started to notice a marked drop in performance in the last yr half.... but then running them just about flat quite a few times aint gonna help the lifespan of them lol with the solar fitted on this year n 2 new LBs installed surely that should keep my little stingy nettle happy with her tropical heating demands jjeeesh

Hi Firefox, I do have 4 115ah (Duel:-Start & Leisure) Batteries on Board, I've also cut up logs with my Reciprocating saw, 1400w, I do run my engine when i use power tools, and run it for no more than 5mins after use, and I built my whole van from start to finish away from the Houses, on my trips my Tv is never turned off as you know, and my Heater runs all night, however i do have a 230w solar panel, in my experience 15 min with a Cleaner is a long time,it would handle a cleaner no Probs! this inverter have been in two vans and in use for 4 years. Hope its of some help.
Hello Gang!! little warmer here tonight 5 deg above, I think we are going to see a little bit of Sun over the next couple of days, had a coffee machine for C----- A cup of Coffee and polish off the Thortons sound like a good plan, so i'm going to make it happen, Thank you Penny and Hippie for all your Help! Good night! and Bless! you all, safe journeys, Haydn, ( Yep it's the other one, )

I have a couple of 110Ah and a 1000w inverter. I do use it for up to about 500w appliances for 15 mins intermittent without alternator, but any longer, I'll run the engine. Your reciprocating saw is powerful! I have the scorpion B&D reciprocater - I think it is only 500W but I'll check it out. I think your set up is about right, I would say at least 4x 100ah batteries for a 2000w inverter. I see people posting about running 2000w off one battery and I shudder to think about overheating and how long their battery will last!!
Similar to you, I have had this set up for 6 years, no probs. On my second set of batteries now, but I do cycle them 365 days a year, so it is to be expected.

Yes my Battery pack keeps up with all my needs, do you know anything about these 115ah (Duel:-Start & Leisure) Batteries? the right up say that the plate are heaver and better when you draw off a higher volume of Power, priced at £130 each, but after looking on Ebay! I had a duel pair for the same price £130 for the pair! great deal iIl thought, Here is a Photo of the Next Generation of Wildcamper & FMUK Logan the new Kid on the Block!!

I'm always a bit wary of of anything which says dual start and leisure because I have read a few articles by people much more in the know about battery construction than me, and they say that low and high discharge constructions are more or less mutually exclusive. Basically if it says dual use - it is a starter battery remarketed. If it does have plates thick enough for deep discharge, then it won't be efficient in surface area for cranking charge. Having said that, I have no personal experience of the batteries you mention. sterling-power.eu/support-faq-2.htm
