I joined way back in February , and thought it was about time to put pen to paper - so to speak. What attracted me to this gathering was 'FREE', no not just that you all seem to be a great bunch of guys and lasses without an axe to grind. Have been a camper all my life, Commer Camper Van with parents in the fifties, motorcycle tent camping in the sixties, family Frame Tent camping in the seventies, Scout Camping in the eighties, Backpacking in the nineties, RTW motorcycle camping in the noughties and now back full circle with a van. Bought a MWB Citroen Relay earlier this year, and have been slowly carrying out a simple conversion, so should be out and about quite soon -
Looking forward to meeting you soon - Alec

Welcome Alec. I know you visited regularly and had made an avatar so I was hoping you would post some day! Thanks for de-lurking Hope you can join us on one of our get-togethers sometime. What Basildog says about the axe is not true. I only had a file to sharpen it with and it was a lot sharper than when I started

Where are you heading? I'm planning to do all 40 islands in Loch Lomond. Visit 5 or 6 a day, camping on the last one at night. I've done some of them before and they are great places with a lot of history. Apart from that my local river (Great Ouse) is great for canoe camping.

Where are you heading? Just remember not to start a fire in your boat if you get cold. It will burn and you will sink. As the saying goes... you can't have your Kayak and heat it!

It's something I might have a go at next year along the River Wye.

Thanks to everyone that has welcomed me. Have been busy today connecting up final Solar leads and checking out split charging wiring, so should be able to go to Rutland tonight. Ellsboy - Conversion is simple, with a Ikea sofa bed across rear, perimeter seating including WC (hidden) along off side, across front to sliding door, 2 x 100 watt up top with two vents and 2 x 6 volt Trojans, no water, stove or heating yet. Mainly Celotex with some wool/poly wrap. Still lots to do.........................Alec
