Hello Ann and Jim ! And welcome to the site.Sounds like a good plan,a motorhome will certainly make you more flexible and able to enjoy some Wildcamping too.

no the nearest we have been to wild camping is we stayed in a carpark at Borth on our way to st Davids there were other motorhomes there and the park attendant said we could stay for £8 but havent had the courage to stay on our own yet thought we might try some pub car parks to start and see how we go.

yes pubs are a good way to start and most seem only too happy to let you stay if you have been in as a customer . You will find on here if you mention an area you are visiting someone will point you in the right direction to some cracking places ! Maybe come to one of our meets sometime as that is a good way to get lots of idea`s.

Welcome Luckyfish! There is a meetings forum: freemotorhominguk.boards.net/board/51/meetings-ralliesThere's Cropredy (Festival) and a Music festival on Lincolnshire coast coming up 8/9 August... it just so happens those are at festivals, as its festival season, but most meets aren't festivals You can see we have done a fair few this year. There are Northern/Southern and Midlands ones. Some of them very short notice, some organised months in advance - a real mixture.

Hi Luckyfish and welcome!!
Wildcamping is not for everyone, but I think that most people who manage to break through the initial uncertainty later wonder why on earth they were so cautious.
I tend only to use campsites when I need water and somewhere to empty the loo. The last site I did that with, on Mull, only charged £3 to get rid of all my waste, and also offered some suggestions about where to wild camp. Can't be bad!
As long as you are having fun, that is what counts.

No probs... that's what we're here for. There's another meet up brewing for the NEC show in Birmingham in October, which may suit you distance wise Nothing definite yet, but it will probably go ahead.
