Hi Ems, and welcome, sorry for slow reply, think I was away for 2 weeks when it got posted and havent really caught up with myself, then away at Northern Music meet which was fantastic. I did hear that you had a van, but only just seen this thread, and as Vernon says its very like mine which is an autohomes Frontier on a Transit. Even got the same naff upholstery but its a fantastic van and so well designed amd thought out. As you can see I really love it and will be most interested to see yours! That looks like a shower tray in the floor - did it come complete with weird tunnel/curtain and full instructions on what order to disrobe?!! So funny. Are you going to any of the meets!
If you've lost your instructions, Ems, Anne can lend you hers, so you can disrobe in the optimum fashion for the van
I think everyone is gong to Stratford. I know it said it was full but there are always cancellations or you can wild nearby. Also some people come late on Sat and go Sunday morning so there's usually room.
Thanks Anne, yes, I have the shower tray in the floor, I think I might be missing the weird tunnel/curtain! Sounds...er...interesting! The shower is all there I just need to work out if it works and how to use it without flooding the van.
With the van I have the Autohomes manual so I'm hoping that will explain how most things are supposed to work!
Vern, I saw you post re the fridge, interested in the wiring via an invertor, sounds like a good idea. Once I've stripped everything out that shouldn't be there and worked out what does what I'll have a think about how I want to wire it up. I'll probably never use hook up on a site, I might use it at home to get the fridge cooled but thats it!
So I have left the 3 pin plug on the fridge. When on a hook up, I just plug my fridge into a 3 pin socket. When driving, I just plug into the invertor which is hard wired straight on the battery through thick cables.
The fridge is about 100w when it runs so draws 8 amps, but the alternator can produce 20 or 30 A if needed. Enough to run the fridge with lots of power spare to charge. I do have a switch for 12v fridge operation if the vehicle is running. Never bothered to use it though.

Aha, well that's the bit you need the shower curtain tunnel thing!! I never bothered with mine, its easier to have a strip wash at the sink! For the shower you pull tap out from sink and hook it onto ceiling then follow disrobing instructions carefully which involve strippimg off, getting inside tunnel thing and lifting it up around you to also hook on celing,... at least i think so... but it will be in your manual no doubt! It is handy to be able to pull the tap right out and out back door to shower muddy feet, dogs etc though.
Sounds complicated! I will have to see what I can rig up! One of the reasons I wanted a shower was for Beau, she is quite low to the ground and collects lots of mud on her belly so she can have a quick warm hose down and hopefully the camper seats will stay clean and free of muddy paw prints! I might have a go in the shower just to see if it is worth using!
washing a dog in the shower is not a good idea, the stone chips in mud don't run away they just block the pipes and drain making them unuseable. An external shower extension is what you need.

I don't think there is anything to block in the camper, just a pipe straight out the bottom of the shower tray to the ground beneath at present so if I shove a bucket underneath that will catch the mucky water! Beau is only small and very fine coated so she doesn't really pick up any stone chips, I've never seen any!

Maybe one of those strainer things in the plughole to catch the large bits?
no problem then Ems happy camping and enjoy the site.

kernowjon: Hi we nearly always freecamp - old age pension gives loads of leisure time but too little money to pay camp site fees. The van has solar panel, large water tank So we are pretty self sufficient. Jon
